Zoltan Istvan is running for Governor of California in 2018 and for President in 2020 on the Libertarian Party ticket, assuming he wins the nomination both times. He is the author of The Transhumanist Wager. His candidacy is also a good reason to talk about Libertarian Transhumanism.

Note: He supports an universal basic income guarantee which he calls a “Federal Land Dividend”. Lots of UBIG proposals use names other than UBIG. This makes it hard for UBIG supporters who only know of the proposals that explicitly call it as such. Adam Kokesh is the only other actually running Libertarian for 2020 yet and Mary Ruwart is speculated to run too.

I have this personal habit of making sure to buy a person’s books before voting for them for President. I bought the books of presidential candidates and nominees from the convention pages on Wikipedia before the 2008 and late elections. I even retconned elections I was too young to vote for. I was just born in 1988, but could vote for Ron Paul’s Republican primaries. Mary Ruwart is a perennial candidate for Libertarian nomination, so I do have Healing Our World in my book collection.

I will be looking forward to seeing him be elected Governor of California in 2018 which will strengthen his 2020 chances.

This does bring up the issue of non-Transhumanist Libertarianism and non-Libertarian Transhumanism too. A basic Venn diagram with one circle being Libertarianism and another circle being Transhumanism will illustrate the issue. No picture shown, so just imagine the diagram.

Ever since Lao-Tzu, Aristotle, the Renaissance Humanists, Classical Liberals, Austrian Economists, and others, the various incarnations of Libertarianism have existed. The technology of how a Transhumanist version would work is recent and in the near future now.

Less money being spent on the military, the Department of Defense, will deserve its own post about the peace movement, the anti-war movement, non-interventionism, etc. It is also part of his 20-point platform mentioned in his Wikipedia article.

Ending the War on Drugs also deserves an article of its own. Ending the War on Drugs, pardoning people it has been waged on, paying them back reparations, and selling off federal land is his plan on this.

Libertarianism has benefited from technological innovations. Libertarianism needs a strong techno component.

Scroll down to the Libertarian Party section to keep track of the 2020 Presidential candidates. Keep track of gubernatorial, senatorial, and congressional races by state too.

Keep track of all California races above, especially the 2018 gubernatorial race.

Technology will help empower individuals to make their own companies, study economics, amass crypto like Bitcoin, body modify themselves, be capitalist, be part of Silicon culture in Silicon Valley and its clones around the world, and any other tech powered individuality projects.

The above two news sources are also needed to keep track of any relevant political news. Zoltan Istvan has been the subject or articles there in the past too.

Decades in the future, the future will be a libertarian future. People will recognize that the government’s sole duty is to recognize self-ownership and the non-aggression principle while providing a framework for such a utopia. Government interference via laws against victimless crimes won’t exist. Free markets will be the entire economy. Freedom and liberty will create a humanity of logical, rational, reasonable, non-aggressive, self-owning, tough, self-sufficient, social networking, etc that doesn’t need government interference. Violence, poverty, etc that currently exist as the government doing to much in the name of making people safe and happy but does the exact opposite also won’t exist.
