The Shame of Being “Israeli”
The world hates Israel, and America’s support won’t change that.
Israel is fucked. Economically, politically, socially, diplomatically, militarily…there is not a single part of Israel’s existence that isn’t collapsing right now. This isn’t a controversial statement, even the Israelis are admitting it.
Trump coming to power again may help keep Israel’s ailing economy afloat if — as appears likely, America funnels more money into the country. His presidency may even sustain Israel’s military for a while longer as he sends over yet more weapons and military aid.
But all the money and military in the world can’t fix Israel’s PR problem. The fact is: the world hates Zionism.
Might the Israeli government, in time, be tempted to try to mitigate this by sacrificing Netanyahu and Gallant to the ICC as a peace offering, in an effort to rehabilitate the Zionist project’s international reputation? Perhaps.
