A comment I made in a post about award shows, people debating the fairness of the nomination process.

“People take awards too seriously, they are a product that is being marketed and their results will reflect their marketing goals.

It’s like pro-wrestling, it about the story and narrative and how it captivates the audience, not pure merit.

Nothing in life is pure merit, we take for granted the amount that audiences play in our every accomplishment.

It’s not a bad thing, it’s just the reality of society, life is much harder if you don’t get everyone else to buy in to what you are doing so you have to perform to achieve your ends in a way that entertains those who’d otherwise be in your way.”
