Huge Pet Peeve: the phrase ”This is why they don’t take x seriously”

If you think not having the occasional sense of humor or going to out of your way to disassociate yourself with people is how you earn others respect you have a bizarre view on people.

People listen to those that they like, which is why community building and outreach matters. That isn’t accomplished by taking yourself to seriously or kicking people out of your community at the sign of any conflict.

The media listens to those who buy ads on their mediums and publishes stories they feel will get them obvious attention, they are not out to do any particular public service despite the lip service. They ignore those who don’t buy ads or make for capitivating headlines, any other reason is an excuse.

Competition doesn’t take you seriously cause they obviously don’t want to give their competition credibility to take their market share and control. No amount of trying to play along and hope for good faith assistance will do that. They want you to play along so you don’t offer any tangible alternative because you’ve become exactly like them.

Build relationships with people, be an example of your ideas, accept it’s an uphill battle and work hard. Stop looking for excuses to be disillusioned, cynical and a defeatist.

It is about balance. Think hard, love hard, laugh hard, work hard.
