There are a lot of people stealing my identity — here’s how to find the real me

Beware. They are coming for you. Some of them are transparent, clumsy, ridiculous. And some of them are experts. And they’re coming for you.

They’ve already taken me. Then they use me — my name and my image — to get to you. It’s very effective.

Who am I talking about? The scammers. The endless string of internet scammers out there who crawl into large content creators’ platforms like fleas.

Again, it’s a very effective tactic. In the old days, grifters used to have to earn people’s trust one-on-one. That takes time. Even gaining access can be challenging.

Fast-forward to the 21st century and suddenly, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. All you have to do is look for content creators with large audiences…and then pretend to be them. Voila! You’ve just gained access to, in my case, 75,000 people who already trust you. Tens of thousands of people who might not only trust you but who might actually admire you enough to be flattered when asked for a “private conversation” and the eventual exchange of money.
