I only have one truly functional cabinet in my kitchen. Can you imagine that? A kitchen so small that most of your dishware and food storage bins can only fit into the one, standard-sized cabinet? There are six others, but they are very small, some in places I can’t reach without a ladder, and some with doors so narrow, only items with a width of less than six inches can fit through.

This cabinet issue is a daily frustration. There are so many items that I use regularly that would only fit into that one cabinet…but it’s not big enough for everything.

I had to face this problem yet again over the summer. I realized that the way I’m using that cabinet is not practical or efficient. There are several items in it that I hardly ever use. Meanwhile, the various items I need for my outdoor adventures (thermoses, water bottles, bento boxes, mini-coolers) are stored in various places around the house.

It struck me at the end of July that it didn’t make any sense for me to have to sort through multiple drawers and cabinets in order to round up everything I need for a day on the lake. It’s a waste of time, and because everything is in different spots…
