The One Thing Single Women Need to Remember While Navigating a World Made for Families
There’s no wrong way to thrive as a woman on her own
I forced myself to decorate for Halloween this year. It’s something that I normally love to do — in fact, I often start pulling out my autumn decorations in June. I’m not a big fan of summer, but I absolutely love autumn and having my little witch figurines around the house helps remind me that my favorite season is just around the corner.
But this year, it was well into September before I started thinking about decorating, or anything else related to the changing season. In the wake of my father’s death, I don’t much care about the little rituals of life.
But I decided I was going to do all the autumnal traditions, even if I didn’t want to. I’ve been single for ten years now and during that time, it’s become incredibly important to me to live the way I would live if I had a family. And that means celebrating all the holidays and enjoying seasonal rituals.
