Ready for a break? Me too.

This is your permission slip to chill out.

A few years ago, hustle culture was king. Productivity hacks filled my feed, and everyone claimed to have the key to doing more in 24 hours than anyone thought possible.

During my former career as a retail leader, I saw customers rushing every day. Everybody was late to pick up their kids or running to get to a party. I looked around and thought, “Well, this seems stupid.”

I was over it.

What about naps? I want to walk my dog while sipping a cup of coffee and call that a productive day. I want to sit on a bench and watch people go by. I’m done scheduling every day down to the last second.

Update:

This is the new article in regards to this publication —

So, I created Traveling Money.

I wanted to know how people worldwide took breaks and celebrated life. What could we learn from each other? What small things could I incorporate to help me slow down?

We’re here to find out.

Throw aside productivity hacks, and kick your feet up.
Let’s take the day off, half a day, or an hour.

What first began as a newsletter has now found a home on Medium. I’m inviting all interested writers to come and share in this relaxed and inclusive space.

If you’d like to contribute, comment on this post and I will add you as a writer.

What’s With the Name?

Growing up, my grandmother would give me a few dollars whenever I would step out the door to a new adventure. She called it traveling money. She didn’t want us stuck somewhere with no way to call home. And a little money for a cold Coke was the best part of summer.

Traveling Money is now for all of us.

Slow down and have a look around.

Traveling Money is a tiny bit of inspiration you can put in your back pocket. It’s a cool breeze on a hot day. It’s a week spent in flip-flops or snow boots — whatever you fancy.

It’s hot chocolate with fat marshmallows and cold green tea on the island of Oahu. Traveling Money is a deep breath, sunshine on your face, and a meal shared with friends.

Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here! We’ll explore how people around the world take breaks, celebrate life, and care for the planet.

I encourage you to slow down, look around, and not sweat the small stuff.

Lean into who you are and do what you love — because it’s pretty amazing.

Let’s do this thing.
