The coming dangers of modern AI integration into computer gaming is plainly real:

However, like most analyses the authors fail to fully appreciate the fundamental causes and, thereby, the regulation actually required to mitigate the societal and existential dangers to mankind.

These fundamental causes and the consequent regulations are clear by recent studies in computational cognitive neuroscience. In effect, both the cause of the imminent problem in gaming, and the solution to mitigating the problem come from the same science.

It was the earlier computational cognitive neuroscience studies in neural network computation, 40–50 years ago, that gave us the Deep Learning Revolution and the perceptible miracles in adding to the Deep Learning computations with Generative Pre-trained Transformers (e.g., ChatGPT), Attention, and Generative AIs.
