Democracy needs to come to terms with fiat lies and fiat truths and how social media needs to fundamentally change its idea of dialogue. We only need a minor addition to existing posts and comments.

Fiat lies arise in large numbers with socially damaging effects through social media posts and comments. A fiat lie, or for that matter, a fiat truth, is a lie or a truth without the immediate opportunity for enforced moderated dialogue for any reason whatsoever. That is the definition of a fiat lie or a fiat truth.

The result is the idiocracy we have today.

This same problem happened with the printing press in the 1500s, which magnified the spread of unarguable fiat lies and truths throughout the world.
