So Gabe, you’ve been the President of the B3 Theater, Inc. board for six months now. Have there been any surprises?

There is always a learning curve when you take any job on. I think my biggest surprise is how collaborative and supportive the rest of the board are. There is always a voice in the back of your head saying, “They will hate all your ideas!” But this team is very strong, helpful, and constructive.

What do you think B3 stands for, principle-wise?

I think we stand for artists. The little artists that need room to grow and express themselves. I think we stand for a more experimental theater. I think we stand for a theater that is diverse and inclusive. We don’t push others down to bring ourselves up.

What should a first-time audience member expect from a B3 show?

I think they should expect to see something that most theaters would be too scared to do. I feel like B3 sees a world where theater does not have to be stuck in realism. We can venture into expressionism and avant-guard, and there will still be a community that supports us.
