Lanzarote Blog Day Two: Practice
Today I wanted to talk about my practice, as in my yoga practice, but also my practice of living as closely as I can to a life well lived, with as much focus as possible on what is good for the place I’m in. In fact, I also found I have a couple of work deadlines closer than expected (not paid work, sadly — I have very little of that, and therefore any donations to me through this or other online payment methods — PayPal, KoFe, Revolut, you name the way, I’ll give you my details) so in the spirit of connection, I thought I might jot down some of my initial thoughts on Medicine Wheel for the Planet, a book by Dr Jennifer Grenz. In fact, I would like to combine my thoughts on the book so far (the review itself will be printed in Environmental Philosophy, a well known philosophical journal) and my response to a question asked by one of my friends: what, if anything, do I, or they want, or are interested in, or what am I willing to do to improve life in Lanzarote.
Maybe the first thing is just to be totally self accepting. As I practise yoga beside the sea each morning, I extend my practice by one minute. I’m now on 47 minutes. I still don’t look in fantastic shape, but I’m fit and healthy. Mostly. We drink too much. We have a party coming up. Then we’re going away for Christmas. But we will do Dry January. And when I’m in Scotland in February with my mother, no doubt I will have to have my…
