It takes many functions, teams, and individuals to make our Chime goals come true. In this post, we’d like to introduce you to our three groups of Product teams: Consumer Product, Growth Product, and Risk and Support.

Consumer Product Teams

We’re building the future of banking* for everyday Americans, including millions who live paycheck to paycheck, by delivering no-fee credit building cards, early pay, high yield savings, and fee-free overdraft to our members. Our teams start from our members’ needs and are on a mission to create financial peace of mind, and build everything from the mobile app to the experience of spending on your card. We help millions of Chime members move, spend, save, and build credit every day.

In contrast to traditional banking*, we believe that by building products that help our members live healthy financial lives, we’ll create member love, trust, and retention that powers a sustainable business. Our consumer teams focus on just that: building value for the long-term financial lives of Chime members. Here’s a look at a few of the individual teams and the products they work on.

💸 Move Money

The Move Money team is building the fastest and most reliable money movement products in the U.S. For the more than 150M Americans who live paycheck to paycheck, this means they can access their money when they need it, where they need it, and with no hidden fees. To do that, we build the experiences and platforms to move money in and out of Chime through things like free instant transfers, free ATM withdrawals, a physical retail network for cash deposits, early payday experiences, and programs for stimulus and tax refunds. 💰Manage Money

The Manage Money team is building an innovative financial planning platform that helps everyday Americans achieve their financial goals. Our approach starts with changing behavior when it comes to financial planning — we make spending stress-free and saving fun. We do this with easy and reliable access to cards, fee-free overdraft, budgeting and allocation tools, high yield savings, and more. We recently doubled our overdraft limits — read more here!

💳 Credit

The Credit Team is building industry-defining credit cards that give everyday Americans a simple way to build credit with everyday purchases by ensuring that Chime members spend within their means and can pay their balances in full at the end of each month, building credit safely(Sounds like a no-brainer, right?). We offer cards like Credit Builder to improve access to credit building so more Chime members can build credit safely. In helping our members build credit, we’re improving access to the rest of the financial world that can be completely blocked off to begin with. Growth Product Teams

We’re building the future of banking* for Americans living paycheck to paycheck. The Growth team is on a mission to get our product in the hands of the next 100 million members. We remove barriers so people can find Chime, see value in our products, adopt them, and use Chime habitually.

Our team accomplishes business goals by solving real member problems. We’re obsessed with understanding our members’ needs and relentlessly apply the scientific method (i.e. understand the data, define hypotheses, prioritize, test, and analyze) in everything we do.

Acquisition

We remove barriers for prospects to find Chime and get started on a path towards a healthier financial life. We identify new groups of users and their unmet needs, and build new ways for them to get to know Chime’s products. We partner deeply with Chime’s marketing team to find and reach prospects who need and would most benefit from using Chime.

Activation

The Activation Team is responsible for fostering trust and love from new members. We do this by bringing new benefits to life and by ensuring that the early new member journey is clear and meaningful. We ensure that new members are so satisfied with Chime that they want everyone they know to join.

Retention

We help members get more value the longer they use Chime. Our goal is to make Chime a financial partner our members deeply love because we understand what they need at each stage of their financial journey.

We accomplish this by driving habits, like direct deposit and regular use of Chime, getting churned members engaged and fully back into Chime, and creating cross-product lock-in value by driving loyalty across multiple segments and personas.

Pay Friends Experience

We’re building the best peer-to-peer experience for Chime members. Whether members are sending and receiving money, asking a friend to spot them before payday, splitting the rent with their roommates, or paying their gardener, Chime is the only app they need. We focus on creating a reliable, safe — and sometimes playful — experience for our members.

Pay Friends Growth

We’re on a mission to make Chime the best way to receive money on the planet, to introduce Chime to as many people as possible, and to help those people become active Chime members.

Risk and Support Product Teams

Risk Experience

We’re building seamless access points to the future of banking* and financial services that personalize and calibrate experiences to our members and their risks. That includes verification, authentication, and authorization to promote frictionless interactions for our members that protect their money and are unique to their banking* experiences. We’re on a mission to reimagine how our members access their money, making banking* open, easier, faster, and more reliable, ultimately delivering financial peace of mind for all Americans.

Risk Platform

We’re building scalable platform components and data archetypes that empower Chime to personalize and calibrate experiences to our members and their needs. We’re working on a generalized rules engine, cohesive 360 customer profiles, both of which are bolstered by machine learning and generate economies of scale that accelerate product innovation and reduce risk, costs, and member friction. We’re on a mission to make decisions that impact our members faster, smarter, easier and more safely, ultimately delivering financial peace of mind for all Americans.

Self-Service

We envision a world where Chime is the preferred financial partner for all because of our delightful experiences, in which emergent issues are resolved before members even reach for help, giving them peace of mind. Our mission is to empower Chime members with relief and resolution in every stage of their financial journey to reaffirm why they choose Chime. Self Service is the invisible lifeline that shadows every product experience and anticipates member needs or provides reassurance. Our strategy is to expand the personalized reach of self-service, education, and communication facilities members have with Chime.

Virtual Support

The Virtual Support team is responsible for building efficient and joyful communication channels to deliver personalized resolutions to members who have questions or concerns. Our goal is to meet our members where they are using one of the first interfaces that we learn as humans: conversation.

Enterprise Tools

Our mission is to build and deploy technology and tooling that empowers Chime operations to deliver a differentiated member service experience efficiently and accurately. We’re building the tech that powers Chime’s operations and enables experiences that set us apart from our competitors. Our enterprise tooling platform also powers seamless end-to-end member experiences and enables ML-driven automation.
