GO-JEK Drivers Cup: A Moment Of Togetherness With Our Drivers
The GO-JEK Drivers Cup, which has been held on the 5th, 6th, and 8th of February 2018, has brought goodness and warmth between the drivers. With huge enthusiasm from our drivers, GO-JEK Driver Cup is an event which has not only brought them together, but also all of us as one big family.
The happiness of our GO-JEK partners, who are also referred to as our drivers, will always be a part of our happiness as well. Thus, this month, GO-JEK Driver Empowerment is holding the third GO-JEK Drivers Cup which was first held in 2016.
The GO-JEK Drivers Cup is a gathering and sports competition event for the active GO-JEK drivers. The event is held simultaneously in 38 cities across Indonesia, with a total of more than 3,814 participants. In Jakarta, it is held on Orion Sport Centre, North Jakarta, with the participants from Jabodetabek.
The GO-JEK Drivers Cup has already been held on the 5th, 6th, and 8th of February from 11 AM until 2 PM, and will be continued until the 20th of February, with its closing on the 22nd of February 2018.
Schedules are made non-consecutive because drivers have to work while having fun in this competition, “This year we have 4 competitions; 3 branches with 1 traditional game. The first is futsal in which we have 64 teams, then badminton with the men’s double which consists of 22 teams and women’s double which is also 10 teams, and then chess competition with 32 participants. We also have the traditional game competition, which is ‘karambol’ with 10 teams.” Explained Mohammad Garin Gunawan, from GO-JEK Driver Empowerment.
On the 5th of February 2018, the opening ceremony in Jakarta was held with speeches from Sam Diah, our VP of Dynamic Culture Division, Monica Oudang, our Chief of Human Resources Officer, and Nadiem Makarim as our CEO.
The GO-JEK Drivers Cup held in Surabaya, Yogyakarta, and Bali were also attended by our GO-JEK Board of Directors. On the 22nd of February 2018, the closing ceremony of the GO-JEK Drivers Cup will be jazzed up by a fun futsal game between 4 teams of women drivers.
So, why does the GO-JEK Drivers Cup need to be held annually? The motivation behind this event is to implement positive values within GO-JEK drivers; sportsmanship and kinship are also expected to grow within them, “We provide a platform, in which they are not only working, but also exercising, and get to know each other.” Garin added. The GO-JEK Drivers Cup gets a lot of enthusiasm from drivers in Indonesia, as was proven by the long waiting list of participants for the competition.
This event has brought goodness and warmth between the drivers as even after the competition, there is still a Whatsappgroup chat dedicated to maintaining the kinship between all participants. Not only for the drivers themselves, this event is also a platform for their families to interact and build relations with each other, as throughout the competition, a wide range of supporters are allowed to watch the match, including their wives or husbands, boy or girlfriends, children, and colleagues.
Driver Empowerment and all of us hope that through this event, some good players will be found who may be able to play in national tournaments. Last but not least, Driver Empowerment invited all GO-TROOPS to watch the exciting final match to support and be closer with the drivers, or even be inspired by their enthusiasm and endless spirit.
So, let’s have fun together with our drivers, especially on the closing ceremony that will be held on the 22nd of February 2018 in Orion Sport Centre, North Jakarta. May the best be with them and see you all there!
