Antonius Budianto, VP of Marketplace Economics
When Antonius Budianto (or Anton for short) first joined GOJEK last year the Marketplace team didn’t exist. However, in only a few short months, he believes that the Marketplace team has now grown into a high-performing group within the company.
Anton received an MBA from the University of Oxford. Prior to GOJEK, he had stints at a number of tech companies in business development and strategic operations. His adventure at GOJEK began only last year, but the impact he has created through his works can already be seen because it instantly affects the lives of customers as well as the future of the company.
For Anton, the key to succeeding in the Marketplace team is to live by one of GOJEK’s values, “Be A Scientist.” If you want to join Anton’s team, the superpowers you’ll need are the ability to test new ideas while improving the existing processes, to be data-driven, and the curiosity to learn. They are essential because the Marketplace team is always evolving!
Steven Halim, Senior Manager of Marketplace City Plan and Health
Steven Halim studied Pharmaceutical Management at the University of Bradford, Singapore. Upon graduation, he immediately jumped into the pharma world. After spending more than 4 years in the pharma industry, Steven felt the need to get out of the corporate life. He craved for real adventures and he wanted to explore challenging problems he could help solve. He eventually joined GOJEK’s Marketplace team.
However, like any kind of epic journey, Steven’s started out rocky. Steven was finally out of his comfort zone, but he had to adapt to the “playground” style of a startup where he is encouraged to conduct many experiments. After a while, he realized that this environment actually empowered him to be more creative and grow his learning curve exponentially.
Being in the Marketplace team forces him to sharpen his problem-solving skills quickly since he is required to continuously improve to help maintain balance between drivers and customers. The goal is to achieve the highest satisfaction level for users while staying competitive in the market. This is not an easy job to do, that’s why Steven wants you to help him. He thinks you’ll be a good fit for the Marketplace team if you’re an excellent problem solver, and you’re curious about everything!
Arpit Rastogi, Product Manager
Arpit has been in love with problem-solving long before he joined GOJEK. He always enjoyed the process of approaching a problem and coming up with a particular solution. When he eventually joined GOJEK’s Marketplace team, it’s like he came home to where he actually belonged. The Marketplace team is very supportive to the point where he can just walk up to anyone and ask away.
One could say the Marketplace team is the philosopher because everyone in the team is encouraged to question everything for the sake of having a deep understanding of a problem. However, they need to live GOJEKs “Be A Scientist” value where every decision needs to be supported by data.
Arpit is one of the few people in the world who is actually excited about tough business problems; he loves the adrenaline rush when he and the team has to make a decision. His most memorable experience in GOJEK is the “jamming” session he would sometimes have with different teams within the company. The session has proved to be really productive for the teams involved because this is when they come up with innovative solutions.
Tegar Iman Susila, Head of Singapore Marketplace and International Marketplace Lead
Equipped with a degree in finance from the University of Indonesia, Tegar’s career adventure started in the finance world. He was an Equity Research Analyst where he advised institutional investors like hedge funds and asset management firms on stock investment portfolios.
Craving for a real adventure, Tegar left the finance industry and eventually joined GOJEK’s Marketplace team. For him, this is the most exciting job he’s ever had because it’s like running a ‘mini’ economy — the whole GOJEK ecosystem. Tegar and his team constantly strive to grow the business by efficiently balancing supply and demand. Optimizing the balance in multiple countries is his daily staple.
Bringing the Indonesian experience to launch GOJEK in international markets such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore were some of Tegar’s favorite moments throughout his career. He enjoyed combining technical knowledge with the local nuances by working together with the local teams to make a solid go-to-market strategy.
