In GO-JEK office, GO-LIBRARY has officially launched as our new office facilitation, where Go Troops could lend and borrow some books at any time. We believe that books are one of the things which shape our way of thinking as it gives us insights to live an impactful life.
Hence, we need to choose what we read. Are you running out of insightful books recommendation? Worries not! We asked several GO-JEK leaders to share their favorite books which inspired them the most;
1. Crystal Widjaja: Radical Candor by Kim Scott

Radical Candor helped Crystal to be clear about expectations as well as how to manage large organization. Kim Scott, the writer of the book who’s extremely experienced in managing people at Google and Apple, dedicated Radical Candor for those readers who need a guide to be a leader and those who have to manage their leaders.
The book also shows us how to find a meaning in our job, how managers could be successful while still retaining their humanity, and how to create an environment where people could love their work and their colleagues.
2. Rama Adrian: Getting Things Done by David Allen

“This book helped me a lot towards rendering an overview business process. Also, it gives an extensive perspective towards problem-solving,” said Rama. Indeed, Getting Things Done is a book which can transform the way we work by showing us how to pick up the pace without wearing ourselves down.
This book also gives us the guide to reassess our goals, stay focused in changing situations, plan projects and how to get them unstuck, and even to overcome our feelings of confusion, anxiety, being overwhelmed, and just to feel fine about what we’re doing in our job.
3. Leilei Tong: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

No wonder that Leilei Tong was crying when reading this breathtaking story which set against the volatile events of Afghanistan’s last thirty years. Khaled Hosseini, who is also the author of The Kite Runner, puts violence, fear, hope, and faith within this story of two generations of characters who struggle to survive, raise a family, and find happiness in the midst of Afghanistan’s conflicts.
4. Aldi Haryopratomo: Menuju Gerbang Kemerdekaan by Mohammad Hatta

The history of Indonesia’s independence day, especially how Moh. Hatta created the proclamation text, was surely influencing Aldi’s way of creating Mapan. Menuju Gerbang Kemerdekaan is a narrative description on how Moh. Hatta helped the process of Indonesia’s Independence Day, as well as how Moh. Hatta lived his life as an inspiring leader. Furthermore, within this book, Moh. Hatta was also telling the story behind Indonesia’s constitutional system and how it developed from the beginning.
5. Delly Nugraha: Blink! The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

Through this book, Malcolm Gladwell redefined the world around us by combining neuroscience and psychology which reveals that great decision makers aren’t those who process the most information or spend the most time deliberating, but those who have perfected the art of “thin-slicing”, which is the ability to filter the very few factors that matter from an overwhelming number of variables.
