Myself, Akhil Siby. I joined Mitsogo a few weeks ago. I’m in the Finance department. It has always been a dream for me to start a career in IT.

As Covid19 causes the world to rethink the communal workspace, it’s also a philosophical and emotional assault on the work culture. My onboarding midst this pandemic was quite interesting.

My first day at Mitsogo was definitely not like a typical first day at a new organization. However, my workspace was perfectly ready to take me in. Apart from this, as to me the saddest part of remote work is that I’m not able to meet all my colleagues in person and get to know more about them. I would say it wasn’t certainly a traditional onboarding experience — for a start. I won’t be able to bribe my new colleagues with coffees in exchange for their insight (yet!) — but I’ve already been made to feel incredibly welcome and I can’t wait to get to meet everyone soon.

In the initial days most of us definitely grapple with the huge changes to our daily lives and the way of working. For me a typical office environment is certainly where I could operate at peak focus for longer. At home there are tons of distractions that you cannot shield yourself from. In this way, it was very challenging for me to manage in the initial few days.

Working remotely actually requires a brand-new routine! Much has changed over the past few months, but we’ve to find our own ways to make the most out of this Quarantine.

Recognizing the current volatility in the market, I really feel very fortunate to secure a new role at a time of global crisis. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last few weeks in building a broader network with the support and advice of some great people.

Huge thanks to everyone who has helped along the way. I’m much delighted to have joined the Mitsogo team!
