I’m Lina Anil. Currently heading the recruitment and human resource department at Mitsogo.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to disrupt our life and work, the virtual workplace has become our new reality. As the saying goes, “It is in times of crisis that the greatest lessons emerge”.

However, with the “new norms” we are facing, — policies and procedures have also changed. In a sense, the pandemic has transformed the way we do many things in both our daily lives and also in the business.

Even during lockdown, Mitsogo had the employee requirements at hand. We continued to hire and on-board new employees. Adapting to the circumstances is one thing that we followed from time to time. Keeping that in mind, we made our hiring process completely virtual. We are pleased to have remote working solutions in place to continue business as usual and keep our employees and candidates safe.

Have you ever imagined hiring a colleague who you’ve never physically met? But this is the reality of many of our new joiners and the recruitment team out there.

Although we’re at home, we’re still having all the hiring processes virtually. We use various platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and more for video interviewing including technical interviews and face to face interviews.

Video interviews weren’t as simple as it would seem. There are many things we have to keep in mind while we conduct a video interview right from having a good network connectivity, lighting, eye contact, attention and avoid distractions.

It would really help if you could set up a well-lit room with no distractions. Make sure your connection is strong so that you don’t run into any issues halfway through the interview. The main point, however, is that — you should be mentally present, maintain eye contact and show interest.”

Challenges are a part of our life. We just have to break through it. It is a part of our growth.

Do you remember the first time you learned something as a child? Wasn’t that challenging then? And, doesn’t it feel easy to you now? The same thing applies to whatever you are doing right now. Challenges will always be there and as you keep passing one, there will be another.

Keep up the spirit and go virtual for now!
