This year, our beloved country Indonesia celebrates its 74th Independence Day.

Throughout the country, Independence Day is synonymous with flag-hoisting ceremonies and festive events including traditional games or even cultural parades. Commemorating Indonesia’s 74th Independence Day on August 17, we celebrate #IndependenceDayAtMoka.

To bring the festivities and celebrations of the season, we throw Indonesia’s traditional competition at office. This was held to bring togetherness and sportsmanship amongst Mokateers across division. Well-known competitions such as kerupuk eating race, sarong relay, put nail in the bottle, office tennis, and marble relay competitions we held within three days.

We invite all Mokateers across division to come and join the competition. This event is indeed the chance to get to know each Mokateers across divisions as the committee randomized the people on each team member.

Beyond providing an opportunity to refresh and have fun, these competitions allowed Mokateers to gather for something more meaningful. As a bonus, several unexpected friendship was made during the event.

The highlight was when our CEO come and join the marble relay competition! — who would think that we have so many competitive Mokateers to win the competition?

Our CEO on Marble Relay Competition

We were blown away by how Mokateers was so invested to win the competition. One of our newly joined Mokateers — Roderick, shares his experience he felt throughout the event.

The games are fun even though they look like simple ones. But, when I play, it really feels like a real competition! Then, I can also get to meet many Mokateers who I have never met at all. It refreshes me a lot from work, I really have that much fun!”

One of our organizing committee, Cinda from Employer Branding team is also sharing her experience in handling the event.

“We try to create an engaging event for Mokateers while also preserving the spirit of Nationalism, hence we came up with #IndependenceDayAtMoka. We began with office decoration with red and white color as the main theme and held traditional games as the main event. All the games are in the form of a group from across departments. Collaboration, cooperation, and having fun is the key of successfulness of this event!”

The celebration of Independence Day is indeed a great significance to the people and history of Indonesia. Hope through #IndependenceDayAtMoka, Mokateers can feel the sign of patriotism and nationalism as the greatest honor and utmost respect for our lovely country.

Merdeka!
