In this spotlight, we talk about how the KeepTruckin Engineering Academy is creating transformative career growth for our employees and highlight how one team member; Waleed, elevated his.
Hi Waleed, tell us a little about yourself
Hey, I am Waleed Sajid and I have been working at Keeptruckin for over two years. I started my career here as a Data Analyst and thanks to the KeepTruckin Engineering Academy, I got an amazing opportunity to switch to the engineering role of my dreams. I am a big tech fan, I like to spend my time watching videos of new technology, learning new things about the field I am working in, watching seasons, and playing PC Games like Valorant and God Of War.
How was your experience being enrolled at the KeepTruckin Engineering Academy?
It was quite an amazing experience, I learned so many things and felt prepared to handle interviews and coding challenges. Every passing day I was learning new things and am still learning. The most amazing thing was that we were not doing anything job-related while we were in the engineering academy and that’s why we got the opportunity and time to do more and achieve something.
How has the KeepTruckin Engineering Academy helped in your career growth?
I was always passionate about becoming a full-time developer, and to achieve that dream (even during COVID) was amazing, Keeptruckin Engineering Academy helped me in switching roles after evaluating me multiple times through different processes. Now I am working as a full-time developer and “the feels” are as awesome as before!
What are you most excited about in the new given role?
I belong to the frontend team and we work on the Fleet Manager Dashboard application. My team works on the Asset Gateway part of the dashboard. We collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams to complete any new features. Our work is essentially what our customers see and interact with. Our goal is to bring life to the ideas presented by Product, realize the designs provided by the Design team, integrate Backend services, and include QA team’s feedback. This all leads us to provide customers with features that meet their needs and provide them with the best user experience.
What advice would you give to new candidates joining the KeepTruckin Engineering academy?
I would suggest them to use the time and space they have to learn, at least, one new thing on a daily basis, do not waste any time, and try to practice what they’ve learned so you never forget.- Do your research and try to learn by yourself before asking anyone else, this will help you grow in any stage of life. Try to understand the responsibilities of the role you are hoping to be in and then give 100% of your effort to accomplish those goals.
