Why should someone choose a career in sales at Motive?

What motivated you to join Motive’s Enterprise team?

I wanted to work for an organization that was solving a pervasive problem in the market that big enterprises struggle with. I was also excited to help build a world-class sales team that can break into the most prominent companies and drive a game-changing impact for customers and for Motive.

What’s the most rewarding part of your career?

The most rewarding aspect of my career is developing my skills and helping foster my team’s growth. Regardless of the route you take in a career in sales, you will find yourself working with others. Being courteous, understanding, and staying true to who you are will be the qualities that people will value. For example, being a sales leader, I constantly lead new teams, which exposes me to new people and different learning styles. Acknowledging each person’s strengths and professional areas they want to work on allows me to help them grow. As I teach others, I am reinforcing my own knowledge and understanding.

In an ever-changing industry learning from your team, their successes and challenges make us all better and produce a higher quality product — whatever that may be.

How has the Enterprise segment evolved since you joined the team in 2017?

Defining the word “evolved” as “developed over time into something different and hopefully more advanced,” I would describe the Enterprise segment’s evolution since 2017 as still “evolving.” Over the years, the Enterprise segment had a two-faceted focus with a down-and-dirty approach. Promised products that required sellers to take customers on a journey. Enterprise had restricted funding and a subpar substructure with immature partnerships. Fast forward, and Enterprise now has the needed funding, a three-faceted approach that includes structured deployment. The most competitive product on the market and an entire ecosystem to support.

How would you describe the culture of the Enterprise team?

Motive embraces a culture of entrepreneurialism, where we are all CEOs of our business and with that comes great responsibility and opportunity. We all have to Own It, which means we take the initiative and run fast. We sweat the details and take pride in our work. We collaborate as a team to Build Trust and win together.

What training and enablement are provided for new hires?

Enterprise sellers are provided a mix of instructor-led sessions, call practice, & self-guided execution that has them develop a plan for going after their territory. Additionally, identify the key pains of the various verticals Motive supports, and rehearse the key processes & frameworks involved in the Enterprise Account Executives’ day-to-day. Sellers are also set up with meet & greets with their sales development rep, sales engineer, and key go-to-market teams, such as Order Management, Legal, Field Marketing, Product Management, and more. At the same time, they are given ample time to begin their prospecting efforts & apply what they’re learning on the job.

The enterprise onboarding experience currently lasts 30 days. It’s undergoing an enablement-led project that will provide critical resources & practice opportunities to sellers from day one through the closure of their first deal.

Why are we growing our Enterprise team in 2023?

Motive has proven a strong product-market fit for the world’s largest fleets. The market also strongly demands our technology to streamline operations, reduce costs, and save lives. Our team is multiplying to serve our customers better and take advantage of market opportunities.

How is the Enterprise team positioned for success this year?

Motive has planned for success throughout our Enterprise business, and we have built a world-class organization to support the world’s largest companies. In addition to an experienced sales team of Senior Account Executives, we have a great supporting cast in Enablement, Marketing, Sales Development, Sales Engineering, Value Realization, Customer Success, Product, Trial Success, Professional Services, and supporting functions.
