What inspires Blake Leyva — our Recruiting Manager, Sales — about joining KeepTruckin
What are you passionate about when it comes to your role and team?
I came to KeepTruckin to lead the Sales Recruiting team because of the massive impact hiring quality salespeople at scale has on a business. Hiring salespeople that help us land new customers with new and innovative use cases for our evolving product suite is essential as we prepare for an IPO. It is fast-paced and we have a ton of executive exposure due to its importance. Our Recruiters and I are passionate about driving that impact for our business and therefore our customers.
I am also passionate about individual growth for the members of my team. Because of the competitive market we are in, we need to constantly evolve our skills. With the huge growth we are seeing as a business, it is key for everyone to take on new challenges, learn new skills, and grow as individuals. Through monthly career conversations and constant constructive feedback, my team and I are always keeping a pulse on what is needed to get to where they want to be in their career, short term, and long term. Watching the members of the team evolve in their careers and celebrating their successes along the way is easily my favorite part of this job.
What is the most exciting thing about being a part of the KeepTruckin team?
The most exciting part of the KeepTruckin team is the support and sense of community we feel with each other. While Covid has been difficult on us all personally and professionally, it has been amazing to see our team become closer during this time. Our wins are amplified because we win together and our losses are softened because we are there for each other.
What is your favorite KeepTruckin Value and why?
My favorite KeepTruckin value is “Create Trust.” I believe trust is the silver bullet to create a work environment we all can be proud of. Creating a culture built on trust means we truly believe those around us will do the right thing. I believe trusting those around us leads to feeling safe and that your voice is heard at work. Trust allows us to give & receive feedback that leads to growth. I particularly like that we added “Create” to this value. Creating trust implies that it is something we always need to work on and strive for. Our work in creating a trusting, safe, and fun environment is everyone’s job and is never complete.
Best place you have ever traveled to?
I have many places I have loved during my travels but I would say the best and closest to my heart is Australia. Without ever having been there or knowing anyone, I moved to Sydney, Australia after getting the chance through work to help build out our APAC region at a prior company of mine. It was amazing personally as I got the chance to live abroad, which was always a dream I had, and I ended up making lifelong friends. It was also amazing professionally as I got the opportunity to build out a new region & recruit people from many different cultures and countries. It enhanced my understanding of diversity and inclusion and has affected me professionally in ways I never dreamed possible when I decided to make the move.
