Hana Putri Christian has never envisioned herself as a part of the Travel industry. Since 2014, her passion had never flew too far from education, before realizing that she needed to expose herself to new things. To her, age is not just a number. It’s a realization to step up her game that she cannot limit her interest on just one matter. Twists and turns had took her here today. Meet Hana, our Head of Accommodation Product.

“My mom is my biggest influence”

If out of many, Hana has to pick one interest that drove her in the past, it would be her passion for the education world. She built her interest through her mom, whose love for psychology she really looked up to. She values her experiences of taking part in her mom’s leadership camps and seminars, motivating the young minds about things that matters. “She still is my biggest influence even until today”, Hana explained. She knows that her mom has always been her inspiration.

Hana was always eager to make improvements in our learning system, mostly in Indonesia’s changing curriculum era — from curriculum 2006 to 2013. At that time, Hana saw an opportunity to generate an end to end learning management system for schools. She believed it could help teachers with their demanded administrative workloads.

“Sometimes, changes are for the better”

Throughout her four years as a Co-Founder in different education companies, it was not only one time Hana felt like she had vision differences with the fellow founders. Finally, it was a turning point — that she might need to dig in for other interests. The goodwill that she carries from her work in education field has led her to find other opportunities that excites her. At the same time, she saw an opening that she felt qualified at, here at Pegipegi.

October 2018 — It was never a tiniest consideration that Hana would felt compatible working for Travel world, especially diving into Product Management. She knew that shifting interest was going to take a lot of adaptations. But one thing she knew, she has always have the urge to explore her potential on other untouched opportunities.

“I love planning. And traveling requires planning too, right?”

Hana always takes planning wherever she goes, including every time she decided to travel. Even on holidays, she makes sure to include a detailed plan. “Where to go, what’s the schedule, what to eat, how to get there, and everything else in between. I’m all about behind the process” — and she knew, in order to travel smoothly, one needs to use good and trustworthy products.

This is the seed for Hana’s interest for the product management world. She values good products, and working in this sector will expose her to a lot of planning in creating good ones as well. “Working for product management means looking forward to improve things. Based on data, competitors, current goals”. She fancies how plans for product improvement translate to project initiatives she loves. In this role, Hana found her new interest.

“It’s the little things that keep you motivated everyday”

“At the end of the day, I can say why Pegipegi fits me. It’s the culture. The people. It’s a place where working feels more like growing”. She finds Pegipegi as a place that stretches her current capacities. Under the leadership of Kevin Sandjaja, CEO of Pegipegi, Hana is motivated to face her everyday challenges. “I know that I can always accomplish more things here, seeing how supportive my team is. I’m excited.”

Hana mentioned that her role in Pegipegi is about achieving small targets along the way. “I do have a long term goal. But the small goals are the ones that keep me motivated everyday.” She believes that Pegipegi has similar vision with her, which is growing with an open mind, just like how a good startup should be. “I don’t want my work pace to be limited. I want to grow around teammates who don’t see positions as differences. To me, it’s about supporting the growth of one another — which I didn’t get at previous companies, ’til I joined this team”.

“To me, it’s important to sound what we value”

In Hana’s view, Pegipegi has a strong potential in the Travel industry. “Bringing the world of travel experience to everyone, from the moment you search for accommodation vouchers and transportation tickets, to the day you get back from your travel, is the value we’re looking forward to give”. She’s confident that being a Product Manager here can help propel Pegipegi throughout the journey.

“Pegipegi has a big mission to ‘bring the world of travel to everyone in the simplest way’, while the world of travel is not only about booking tickets, right? That “world” comes differently for everyone. For me? Planning has become a huge part of my travel world. It can be different to you, and to everyone else”.

“I’m Indonesian. You’re Indonesian. Pegipegi is, too. That’s why we’re close to you”

Hana believes that words are nothing without actions, and it’s important to dive into actionable things to really make an impact. Together with the Product team, Hana aims to introduce localization to Pegipegi’s product, making our users feel understood by using Pegipegi to travel the ‘Indonesian Way’. It’s not an easy task, and it may not take a short time, but she looks forward to bringing that experience.

“To me, it’s pretty great to see a brand with ‘human feel’. It tells our users that we’re close to them. That’s what I’m aiming for Pegipegi to achieve”.

Throughout Hana’s presence in Pegipegi, she has contributed in a lot of project that helps our growth in this industry. This experience has shaped Hana toward becoming a great person for her role as a Head of Accommodation Product
