Cashing in the Benefits!

Having not traveled in nearly 2 years, when Propeller announced the “Travel to Denver” benefit was reopening, we jumped at the opportunity! After some creative accounting and light influencing, the finance team was approved for travel and next thing we were on a plane to the US. It really felt like not much had changed since our last trip, we watched some cool new flicks, would have loved more leg room and tried to get as much sleep as possible without too much success.

Shortly after touching down we eagerly went into the office for Friday night drinks which was by pure coincidence, but extremely well timed by us. After meeting a few friendly faces we toured around RiNo with the team, bouncing around the many breweries. It really didn’t take long to feel comfortable as everyone was so friendly and accommodating. This set the tone for a great two weeks, here are a few highlights from the rest of our time in Denver:

Trial Balance

We were told by the team that if you want a full American experience, you cannot go past the Grizzly Rose. This country bar is a must visit destination whilst in Denver. It really feels like you are entering a different world in a sea of Cowboy hats. Here we got to practice our lassoing, ride a mechanical bull and try to coordinate ourselves in some line dancing. Just remember to pack your best cowboy outfit to get the full experience.

Meal Entertainment

Food is a big part of Propeller’s culture and it’s great to see this transcends country borders into the Denver office. Every Wednesday the team puts on a lunch giving everyone an opportunity to come together and bond over excellent food. While the food scene in Denver is decent, the glorious pub schnitty is yet to grace the mile high city. So the finance team took it upon ourselves to right this wrong.

We ordered what felt like a pallet of chicken breast from Costco, swapped out our keyboards for chopping boards and got crumbing. The event was a big success with notable quotes from the team — “It’s like a big chicken nugget”. We took that as a win and shortly after we were crowned ‘The Schnitty Committee’.

Pet-ty Cash

As far as we can tell there are few things that people from Denver like more than beer and dogs. So naturally it makes sense to have an event that combines the two. Pups and Pints is a must attend event if you happen to be in Denver while it’s on. Lots of wholesome vibes and a great way to spend one of our last nights in town. It took great restraint, but we didn’t adopt a puppy.

Office Fit Out

Overall our favorite part of the trip was getting the chance to meet our amazing colleagues who are now friends in person. It really didn’t take long to feel comfortable in the new office as everyone was so friendly and accommodating. There is definitely a level of connectedness that comes with simple acts like having an office lunch or friendly banter at your desks. Can’t wait until next year.

Signing off,

The Schnitty Committee
