Over the past 11 years, Tokopedia has presented various initiatives to develop Indonesia’s digital talent. These efforts were presented in the form of intensive trainings, workshops, and discussions. Nevertheless, Tokopedia realizes that there are still many challenges ahead, one of which is the lack of future digital talent.

Therefore, Tokopedia created Tokopedia Academy, a learning platform for tech enthusiasts who are inspired to become the next generation of Indonesia’s digital talent. Tokopedia Academy not only shares information about technology in terms of programming, but it also provides individuals with the opportunity to learn about Data, Product, and Product Design, which are essential in building technology.

Within Tokopedia Academy, all the programs have been carefully structured to help participants gain the skills and knowledge required to participate in the future of technology. For instance, the curriculum is designed to follow the evolution of the tech industry, courses are taught by qualified tech professionals and participants take part in practical technical implementation to solve present-day challenges.

START Summit

If you are looking for a technology summit with various topics at once, then the START Summit is for you. The START Summit is Tokopedia’s first technology conference that features Tokopedia’s many technological innovations.

At this START Summit, the Tokopedia Technology Team will descend directly to share their stories in the fields of Core Engineering, Scalability, and Data. This event also offers a Round Table session where participants can discuss their current tech challenges directly with Tokopedia’s Technology team to share information, gain insights and solve the challenges together.

The START Summit was first held on Saturday, 22 February 2020, at The Kasablanka Hall, Kota Kasablanka. This event was enlivened by 2,000 technology enthusiasts and watched by more than 76,000 people through Tokopedia Play.

START Summit Extension

Seeing the high enthusiasm following the first START Summit in February, Tokopedia took the initiative to hold a series of START Summit Extension as a continuation of the technology conference to support technology enthusiasts to continue to develop themselves.

The START Summit Extension is a series of monthly technology discussions held by Tokopedia. Every month, the event discusses various topics related to Tokopedia’s breakthroughs and technological innovations.

By having more regular tech discussions, Tokopedia aims to foster the interest of Indonesia’s youth towards technology while at the same time preparing them with the tools needed to become technology experts themselves.

Tech Workshop

The Tech Workshop is a more small-scale, interactive and hands-on session in contrast to START Summit and START Summit Extension, which is organized in a discussion or seminar format.

Through a Tech Workshop, a limited number of participants will learn directly from Tokopedia’s Engineers and gain practical experience into the subject under discussion. Participants will be exposed to not only ideas, but also step-by-step techniques within a specific topic intensively for 3–5 hours, both online and face to face.

This free workshop is intended for the general public and will provide a certificate of completion for all participants.

Behind Great Product

This event is suitable for those who are interested in the field of Product Management. Through this event, Tokopedia invites experts in the Product field, both from within Tokopedia and externally, such as Product experts from national or international educational institutions or local and foreign business leaders.

This monthly event highlights various topics according to the ongoing trends or relevant societal conditions. This month, for example, Behind Great Product brought forward the topic of innovation during a pandemic and discussed the different ways businesses are being challenged by COVID-19 and how they manage to maintain their productivity and turn these challenges into opportunities.

Tokopedia Devcamp

Tokopedia DevCamp is a training program consisting of an intensive 6-day hackathon to develop Indonesia’s digital talent. This program is devoted to students in their final year of university majoring in various technological fields.

During the competition, participants are directly trained and mentored by Tokopedia’s technology leaders. The trainings participants undergo during DevCamp encourages them to explore the best possible ideas and teaches them how to execute these ideas, while encouraging collaboration and innovation. Seeing student’s enthusiasm following the DevCamp program in 2019, Tokopedia is committed to continuing to hold DevCamp as a platform for future technology leaders in Indonesia to develop themselves.

Advanced Analytics Academy

Advanced Analytics Academy (AAA) is a 3-month exclusive development program for college graduates in the Data field, which supports them to gain the knowledge and technical skills necessary to become data professionals. All trainees have the opportunity to study the various areas of data and explore each role, to determine in which area of Data they enjoy the most and would be the most suited in.

With programs like AAA, Tokopedia is thrilled to offer students from various backgrounds an opportunity to envision working in technology companies, as well as legitimate skills training through intensive analysis training (including the scope of Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Business Intelligence and Data Scientist).

Product Design Academy

Product Design Academy is a free 9-month exclusive program with a comprehensive curriculum that enables those with an immense passion for design and research to build products. The program is highly suitable for those who strive to learn and improve their technical skills in designing the right product.

Participants are given the opportunity to explore three roles during the program namely UI Designer, UX Designer, and UX Researcher. The role will be given to each participant based on individual assessment and interview results.

Product Academy

Product Academy is a 5-day intensive training program for students in their final year of university and specialized in IT, Design and Business. Tokopedia provides participants with the opportunity to learn the role of a Product Manager in a technology company through training and case studies. The overall goal of the program is to challenge participants to solve real world problems by developing a product.

This training and case studies aim to also bridge their academic knowledge with the current needs of the industry. Selected participants will also be given the opportunity to take on an internship at Tokopedia with the chance to become a permanent employee or Product Manager at Tokopedia.
