If you stop and think for a moment, you wouldn’t be surprised to know that many aspects of our lives changed because of the pandemic. Starting from our behavior, preference, how we operate ourselves daily, how we socialize, and so many more details we don’t realize. We have not just gone through a year of change, but also a year to adapt.

These changes also occurred among business players, where creativity, adaptability, and the ability to innovate are challenged more than ever. However, let’s not talk so negatively about the challenges just yet; challenges are what keeps us moving forward!

Providing a One-Stop-Solution for Users

If you’re a Tokopedia user, you would be familiar with the categories the app presents like Fashion, Beauty, Wedding, Home & Living, Mom & Baby, among others. However, these categories provide you with more than just an extensive list of items, brands, or stores of a certain kind of product. These categories also provide you with a one-stop solution.

To know more about it, we had a chat with Rizki Widyastuti, Strategic Initiatives Senior Lead — Mom Baby & Home Living at Tokopedia. As part of providing a one-stop solution, the team becomes a bridge between sellers and buyers. For our consumers, Rizki and her team focus on two aspects: curating the best selection of products and maintaining a smooth customer experience.

To curate the right products, the team frequently conducts research to get a helicopter view of the current trends and consumer demands. The research results will be implemented to the category and our users can find what they need conveniently. The user shopping experience is further enhanced with additional features, promos, and offers. Moreover, the team also utilized Instagram as a centralized platform to share parenting information and practices.

Supporting Our Sellers

As a home to more than 11 million sellers, the seller’s experience is as important as our users’. We summarized 2 reasons why maintaining the seller experience is important: to provide support for sellers and help sellers navigate their customer demands.

Rizki stated that frequent engagements with sellers is one form of support for sellers. Through these sessions, the team can ask for their feedback on their experience, complaints, or even notes for the team. Moreover, during the pandemic, the team also held informative and fun virtual gatherings every once in a while to maintain the relationship. The gatherings are kept really light and entertaining with awards, games, Q&A sessions.

Constant communication with sellers can also equip them with the necessary information to boost sales. Insights on consumer demand, current shopping trends, and consumer shopping habits will help sellers better navigate the market. They’re able to organize and plan strategies, conduct improvements, and evaluations. A point to remember: Tokopedia’s Super Ecosystem mutually benefits sellers and buyers!

Future of Mom Baby & Home Living

When we asked Rizki about the future plans of the MBHL team, we simply cannot wait for the exciting soon-to-be-released projects. Here is the lineup:

  1. The team plans to strengthen the collaboration between Toko Cabang, logistic partners, and other partners to provide efficiency for customers through offerings such as the Bebas Ongkir feature.
  2. Mom & Baby team will further develop Tokopedia Parents to provide a one-stop solution for parenting information and practices, starting from providing the best selection of products and connecting parents to parenting communities in Indonesia
  3. The team will also collaborate with the Affiliate team to allow recommendation-sharing between parents. The Tokopedia Parents community will be the first to try this feature!
  4. Home & Living category will enable bulk purchases and collaborate with Mitra Tokopedia to enable B2B and B2C transactions. This will allow distributors to restock products and directly connect to the principal.

Leading the MBHL team, which consists of 7 people, is certainly a fun rollercoaster ride for Rizki, even with the challenges of the pandemic. In the future, Rizki looks forward to more collaboration between the MBHL team and other business units in Tokopedia to provide a one-stop solution for users.

Through this pandemic, we can learn that convenience is within our future and adaptability is essential. Hence, let’s continue to give our best in everything we do!
