This article goes out to those of you with a great passion for technology and finding your way to learning all you can about it. As we know, technology is a complex subject to learn, and it’s always nice to have a platform, source of information, or an expert to refer to. In this article, we want to introduce to you: Tokopedia Academy!

Tokopedia Academy is a learning ground for Indonesia’s future digital talent that aims to provide access for everyone to learn how to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s economy through technology. After officially launching academy.tokopedia.com in the recent START Summit 2021 on 3 July 2021, digital talents can now learn about technology through educational videos, articles, podcasts, and events through a one-stop platform. Not only embracing digital and tech talents in Indonesia, Tokopedia Academy also welcomes partners to collaborate, nurture, and deliver 9 million digital talents by 2030 for Indonesia.

What’s Behind the Scenes?

Every success has a behind-the-scenes story, and it starts with a noble mission to give back to the country. The Tokopedia Academy team realized that the team must ensure everyone has access to knowledge. Moreover, learning is a lifelong process. Therefore, Tokopedia led by the Tokopedia Academy team would like to share our technology as much as we can for everyone to learn and reap the benefits.

To help digital talents absorb all the available knowledge on our platform, meet Siti Fauziah (Tokopedia Academy’s Lead), and Rossy Iskandar (Tokopedia Academy’s Senior Associate), or as we call them, the two heroines behind Tokopedia Academy programs, curriculum, and events. These incredible women are bound by an aspiration to create a real impact for the country and help uncover as well as develop the potentials of Indonesia’s digital talents. Other Nakama in Tokopedia’s Core Engineering, Infrastructure & Productivity, Data, Website, and other fields thankfully share the same aspiration. It truly takes everyone, not two, to tango!

On a daily basis, the team manages more than 14 active programs under the Tokopedia Academy umbrella, including the content on the website, online events featuring tech experts from Tokopedia, among others. Not long ago, the Tokopedia Academy team successfully held the virtual comeback of START Summit 2021. The online event received support from Johnny G. Plate, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Indonesia, who opened the session with a keynote speech. Furthermore, it featured 39 tech experts in Tokopedia as speakers, offered 3 breakout stages, and was watched by more than 54K participants from all around Indonesia.

Aside from events, the Tokopedia Academy team also recently launched the new Tokopedia Academy website which was first initiated in 2020. As the pandemic took a different turn and continued until the following year, the team felt the need to create a more dynamic platform that can be accessed anywhere, anytime, and ensure that it was mobile-friendly (the iOS version is coming soon!). A bonus fun fact for our readers: the Tokopedia Academy website was made in just one night, that’s what we call commitment and a DNA we preach #MakeItHappen.

Since then, the website has been visited by more than 350,000 users and offers many varieties of learning curriculums in different formats. The curriculums are not solely produced by Tokopedia, but also by Tokopedia Academy partners. You can learn about numerous subjects and choose from a diverse list of 217 learning materials, starting from Data, Product Management, Product Innovation, Product Design, and more. It doesn’t stop there, the team is very excited to bring you many more programs, curriculums, and events for you to learn throughout the year.

Become Indonesia’s Greatest Digital Talent with Us!

The mission to have 9 million digital talents by 2030 will remain our ultimate goal, and even if we reach this goal, we’ll certainly aspire to produce another million. Before we get discouraged by this big target, it is sincerely the small achievements that keep us going.

Rossy shared to us that one of the biggest joys of her job was seeing a participant of Tokopedia’s first START Summit 2020 becoming a Nakama at Tokopedia, and being selected as a speaker for START Summit 2021! This also occurred on a few more occasions such as with Tokopedia’s DevCamp and Product Design Academy participants, who joined Tokopedia’s big family after they completed the programs.

So, dear readers, we’re on our way to reaching our goals. If your mission is to become one of Indonesia’s greatest digital talents, come join us on this journey. Together, alongside Tokopedia and Tokopedia Academy, we can achieve 9 million digital talents in 9 years.
