Twitter is a Portal
It’s Not All About Selfies.
I must admit it: I am one of those people who is paranoid about the expanding use of technology. When I see someone take a picture of themselves I get this terrible distaste in my mouth and am tempted to mutter some comment about narcisism and the self-centered generation that I am a part of.
Despite my psychosis, I do participate in social networking. Twitter allows me to seek out news organizations, political bloggers, and their respectable photo and audio material. I’ve seen children in Sudanese refugee camps, the President’s handshake with Rouhani, and read about French racism issues. One can learn about anything through a social network, and the Internet as a whole. The world is at your finger tips; your brain is free to explore.
The human race thrives to increasingly learn. It is our human nature to improve our way of life. Within the past 40 years, we have made a pathway to information that gets more and more refined everyday. We are now able to learn more, see more, and ideally understand more about each other and the world we live in, if only we are willing to stop taking Snapchat selfies in class.
