Unwanted Roomies
Critters and insects and all that fun stuff
I vowed to write about my molokau (poisonous centipede) infestation once I hit 30. So here we are, surpassing the 30 mark, for I have now experienced the company of 31 molokau in my lovely abode. I really can’t say why they have turned to my home as their sanctuary, but I have killed every single once of them. Maybe they finally got the hint, because I have not seen one for three weeks now! I should be ecstatic, if it were not for the newest addition to the molokau + Katie family…
Now, I have a rat friend. Sarah has dubbed him Scabbers, since I finally read HP and enjoyed the series so, so (way too) much. Something about him was kind of cute, when I first saw him scurry across my bedroom, hop onto the dresser, and shimmy his way behind the wall. So I didn’t really think Scabbers fit his personality…(I’m only trying to name him because a fellow PCV names his fears, to make them less threatening). Point being, a name has not yet been decided. *No name* rat is, however, not so cute anymore. I definitely heard him having a party of sorts in my house the other night as I tried to fall asleep. I woke the next morning to two large holes being chewed through my bathroom walls, so he has better access to his nest in the wall. ☺
These fun friends, and others, are lucky that I am just so accommodating! It was suggested that I have a hammer on hand, were I to see the rat run by me again. I can’t even fathom what they are suggesting I do with said hammer. Instead, I have thoughtfully placed multiple piles of poison around the house, and hope he just takes care of his business elsewhere, so I don’t have to deal with the guilt of his death on my conscience.
Other than these very unwanted critters, my house is infested with moko , or geckos. These, I really don’t mind at all because they eat flies and other insects. However, my house is COVERED in their poop. You can’t always get what you want, can you?
**Sorry for not including any pics, I thought they would scare off some readers, i.e. Kait…**
