Some of the Hispanic Heritage Month swag

For Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM), from September 15 to October 15, we highlighted the contributions made by members of the Latinx community all over the world with the theme: “Celebrating Latinx Creative Energy.” Our employee resource group Latinx@ hosted 30+ activities across our US offices that shined a light on the creative expressions of Latinx and Hispanic figures in a variety of different industries. We celebrated the diversity within the community, and inspired everyone to release their creative energy.

From Salsa classes to community volunteer activities, there were activities for all this Hispanic Heritage Month. See some of the highlights below!

Takeaways

Now that Hispanic Heritage Month is over, it doesn’t mean we stop celebrating the creative expressions and contribution of the Latinx community. Here’s what a few of our Latinx Dropboxers had to say on how we can keep the momentum going:

“ This is an important moment in history to live out our cultures and be proud of our identities, and we should also hold ourselves to a higher standard, so our community has role models. We may have to work twice as hard to achieve what others in this country take for granted — thankfully, we have closely-knit families, good food, and good humor to pull us through together.”

-Alan Day

“Stay informed… Read books by Hispanic/Latinx authors, listen to Latinx music, practice your high school Spanish, support local Latinx restaurants and businesses.”

-Isa Oliveres

We can celebrate Hispanic heritage every day simply by inclusion. Including all heritages into our everyday lives enriches us all through diversity. Being inclusive broadens perspectives and it is not prejudice to one culture. Taking time to learn a culture you did not grow up with will give you appreciation for your neighbors, co-workers, and strangers!”
