Since its founding, Boston has been the epicenter of important history, commerce, innovation, education, and culture. This long tradition of excellence extends well into the modern era, making Boston one of the most prized places to live and work in America.

With an ever-growing economy, educational and research opportunities stemming from 54 colleges and universities nearby, plus a growing tech hub, Boston ranks at the top of American cities when it comes to skilled workforces. Best of all, Boston’s the ideal home for remote workers who prioritize their personal well-being without sacrificing their careers. By ditching lengthy commutes, awkward break-room chats, and long lunch lines, working remotely from Boston gives Dropbox employees the flexibility and autonomy to achieve their professional goals while also nurturing a healthy work-life balance.

Let us show you all that Boston has to offer.

Work friendly cafes: kick back, grab a coffee, connect to the free WiFi, and let’s get some work done.

Pavement Coffeehouse

  • Finding a nearby Pavement Coffeehouse isn’t too hard in Boston, but there’s one of their many locations that really stands out. Located in the bustling neighborhood of Brighton, Pavement’s new offering is the best of the best, where you’ll enjoy freshly roasted coffee and baked goods, all made on site.

Render Coffee

  • Striking the perfect balance between cozy staple and meetinghouse of minds, Render Coffee will make you feel as if you’re working remotely amongst some of the best Boston has to offer. Their glassed-in back patio is the perfect spot to post up for the afternoon with a fresh pour-over and nosh on one of their many stellar snack options.

It’s happy hour! Well, almost… Here are some great places to grab a drink while sending those last few emails.

Lamplighter Brewing Co.

  • Sure, there’s plenty of seating and access to outlets, but why beat around the bush… you come here for some of the best beer in Boston. With a focus on aroma-packed and flavor-driven beers, Lamplighter has a wide selection of scrumptious New England IPAs, barrel-aged sours, and special seasonal beers. Grab a flight, strike up a friendly chat with the barkeep, and who knows, you might even get an impromptu tour of the brewery, on the house.

Sam Lagrassa’s

  • This classic family-owned sandwich shop is the perfect spot for a well-deserved lunch break. They’ve been voted the#1 Pastrami sandwich in Boston—and Dropboxers can confirm!

The Square Root

  • When working remotely from cafes, one can often feel as if they are overstaying their welcome — but not at The Square Root, when coworking is encouraged. This Beantown staple wears many hats as a cafe, bar, workspace, and performance venue. It’s the perfect place to hang any time of the day.

Bully Boy Distillers

  • For a city this old, it’s hard to be a first in Boston nowadays. Unless you’re Bully Boy distillers. Opened in 2011, Bully Boy is Boston’s first craft distillery. Offering both tours and access to their tasting room — which showcases exceptional spirits and craft cocktails — Bully Boy is the rare chance where you get to experience history in the making.

Wusong Road

  • This reasonably priced tiki bar recently opened in Harvard Square. Dropboxer tip: Try their pulled pork baos and house Mai Tai (only $8.88)!

Take a step back in time and explore Boston’s rich history

The Freedom Trail

  • The Freedom Trail is arguably the most iconic walking tour in the country. Featuring a unique collection of museums, churches, meeting houses, parks, and even a famous ship, the historical markers on this intercity trail tell the story of the American Revolution… and beyond. Clocking in at just under 2½ miles, the Freedom Trail’s most prominent sites are The Paul Revere House, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and Old North Church.

Fenway Park

  • Whether you’re a Red Sox fan or not, it’s hard not to feel romantic about baseball in what most consider to be its most historic stadium. Since 1912, Fenway has been the best place to be in Boston on cool summer nights to soak in the true atmosphere of the city. Fenway also offers a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes with daily tours of the famous ballpark.

Cambridge, MA

  • Located just 3 miles outside of Boston’s city center, the city of Cambridge is home to academic powerhouses Harvard University and MIT, both of which offer a wide range of museums worth visiting. In addition to these beautiful campuses, visitors also enjoy spending time in Harvard Square, Cambridge’s city center, which is full of shops, restaurants, bars, and independent bookstores — including the country’s oldest poetry bookstore.

Squantum/Quincy, MA

  • Squantum, MA is a beautiful peninsula in Quincy, MA, that offers skyline views of its friendly neighbor. It’s known as the “City of Presidents” — the birthplace of John Adams and John Quincy Adams — as well as John Hancock, the first signer of the Declaration of Independence!
