When you’re building products for people all over the world, it’s critically important that your team reflects a similar level of diversity. This thought is always top of mind for Jeremy Barrett, a technical engineering sourcer at Dropbox. He shared with us how he keeps diversity in mind as he’s helping to fortify our teams.

Can you tell us a little about your background and journey to Dropbox?

I joined Dropbox in April 2018 after being in the staffing consulting industry for over eight years. I supported companies with scaling of their talent for projects when they had skills gaps that would keep them from successful implementations.

What’s it like being a member of the sourcing team? And why do you enjoy being a sourcer?

We are at the ground floor of building the talent pipeline for our strategic roles across the company. We are tasked with finding the top talent in our industry that is not actively looking and aligns well with our team. We are building the technical talent level across our teams that allows us to bring new products and services to the marketplace.

How have you seen your team grow or change during your time at Dropbox?

The team has grown tremendously in many aspects, from overall team size in sourcing to the various parts of the business that sourcing impacts and supports.

How do you think the sourcing team, plays a part in diversity and inclusion at Dropbox?

We are critical to this aspect of growing our teams and making them diverse. We have dedicated team members that specialize in this area of our sourcing efforts across our teams.

Why do you think diversity is important at work?

Your team should mirror your customer base to ensure you understand how to support your customers. Diversity brings different perspectives and outlooks that, when combined, allow you to create the best overall solution from having different backgrounds thinking together towards the same goal.
