Joys of Journaling
How to get inside your own head
In the past year I have become a devotee of journaling. I have been writing in my electronic journal a few times a week. I find it to be very cathartic. It has helped me on a journey to self-discovery. It has made me more aware of who I am and why I am the way that I am.
Journaling can be accomplished in many ways. My chosen tool is Life Journal. This is because I spend so much time at my computer and my handwriting is awful. I am able to read what I write when I use Life Journal.
I use it as a self-counseling tool. I come up with ideas on changes I want to make or things I want to consider about myself (or others) and then I go and write until I have gotten it all out on the screen. I find that my thinking becomes much more clear. I am able to accomplish things I never thought possible. All by writing in a journal.
If you are like I used to be, you think this is preposterous. I am telling you that you need to give it a try. Have a problem losing weight? Journal about it. Can’t quit smoking? Journal about it. Relationshp problems? Journal about them. In every case writing in a journal will help you.
I have used my journal in the past year to help me get through a bad relationship. I have also used it to help me do better in a good relationship. I have used it to gain focus. I have used it to just vent. The point is that I am using it and I don’t have to dump these issues on anyone else.
If you don’t already use a journal give it a try. Use one for 3 months and see what happens to your life. You will be able to get inside your own self better than you ever have before.
