Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a proud and boastful cock. He had beautiful feathers of all colors and would strut around the village with his head held high, showing off his magnificence to anyone who would take notice.
He was always belittling the other animals in the village, calling them weak and inferior. He especially liked to taunt a group of hens who lived nearby, telling them that they were nothing compared to his grandeur.
One day, the proud cock was out for a walk in the woods when he saw a flock of ducks swimming in a pond. He thought to himself, “I am the most magnificent bird in this village, why should I not join those ducks and show them what a real bird looks like?”
Without a second thought, he jumped into the pond, flapping his wings vigorously. But to his surprise, he sank like a stone and struggled to stay afloat. The ducks, on the other hand, swam effortlessly and gracefully in the water.
The proud cock realized that he had made a grave mistake by underestimating the ducks. He had always been so focused on his own pride and vanity that he failed to recognize the abilities of others around him.
As he struggled to stay afloat, he realized the truth in the old saying, “Pride comes before a fall.” His pride had caused him to underestimate his own limitations and had made him blind to the capabilities of others.
Finally, the ducks took pity on him and offered him a branch to climb onto. The proud cock, humbled and embarrassed, realized that he needed to change his ways. From that day forward, he made a conscious effort to be kinder and more respectful to the other animals in the village. He learned that true beauty comes from within, and that it is important to be humble and respectful of others’ abilities and talents.
The proud cock’s experience was a valuable lesson for all the animals in the village, who learned to never underestimate the abilities of others and to always be humble and kind. And so, the village became a happier and more harmonious place, where all the animals lived in peace and mutual respect.
