These verses are explained in my book ‘Word of God Bhagavad Gita,’ and I give here just a few prominent verses which is the outline and just the tip of the ice berg.

The readers have to read the full book to grasp the entire concept.

Lord Sri Krishna says to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita:

One should sit for meditation in a clean place, on a seat neither too high nor too low, with grass, deer skin and a cloth, spread one over the other. (Book:Word of God Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 6 verse 11) Ajay Gupta: Amazon.in: Kindle Store : Word of God Bhagavad Gita by Ajay Gupta:

शुचौ देशे प्रतिष्ठाप्य स्थिरमासनमात्मनः।
नात्युच्छ्रितं नातिनीचं चैलाजिनकुशोत्तरम्।। (6:11)

Sri Krishna gave this Scripture of Gita more than five thousand years ago, and people at that time used to meditate while sitting under a tree or in a forest; where insects or wild animals could encroach.

Hence these instructions for a suitable meditation seat were stated for comfort in those circumstances.

In the modern world while one is meditating in one’s room, there is no such fear of wild animals or insects encroaching. One can have any comfortable seat which is stable and firm, whether on a blanket or a rubber mat on the ground, but not a moving or a rocking chair.

The seat should be firm and stable for the mind to be stable.

One should see one’s convenience in this regard, and not worry too much about the formalities and requirements of an ideal seat. What finally matters is how good the meditation practice is.

If someone is unwell, one can even meditate while sitting in a chair with back straight.

Sitting on this seat, making the mind one-pointed, completely stilling the senses, mind and all thoughts; one should engage in ‘Yoga meditation’ for self-purification. (Book: Word of God Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 6 verse 12)

तत्रैकाग्रं मनः कृत्वा यतचित्तेन्द्रियक्रियः।
उपविश्यासने युञ्ज्याद्योगमात्मविशुद्धये।। (6:12)

Firmly holding the body, head and neck erect and motionless, let one gaze at the front of one’s nose with unseeing eyes, not allowing the eyes to wander around in other directions. (Book: Word of God Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 6 verse 13)

समं कायशिरोग्रीवं धारयन्नचलं स्थिरः।
संप्रेक्ष्य नासिकाग्रं स्वं दिशश्चानवलोकयन्।। (6:13)

Thus always united with My Spirit (Krishna-consciousness), the Yogi living a disciplined and an austere life; attains abiding peace, culminating in ‘Nirvana,’ and thus goes to My supreme abode. (6:15)

युञ्जन्नेवं सदाऽऽत्मानं योगी नियतमानसः।
शान्तिं निर्वाणपरमां मत्संस्थामधिगच्छति।। (6:15)

Yunjanevamsadaatmanam yogi: — -the yogi thus always united with the Spirit of Krishna-consciousness; niyatamanasahshantimnirvanaparamam…matsamstham adhigacchati: — -living a disciplined life of self-control, attains abiding peace culminating in Nirvana and goes to My supreme abode.”

Nirvana or liberation is the ultimate goal, when one has gone beyond all desires for material wealth, sense gratifications and lust etc. Then there is nothing more to be gained in this world.

Nirvana means no more birth and death. In the modern world, the word ‘Nirvana’ is merely used as a buzzword, without knowing its true meaning.

Wife tells her husband that I want Nirvana, and daughter tells her father, “Wow! Nirvana is great.” — — Nirvana is not a commodity which can be purchased in a shopping Mall.

Nirvana is an ultimate happening, as a result of many life-times of spiritual disciple and meditation practice on the ‘yoga path.’
