Are You the Same Person I Met Yesterday?

Next morning I am preparing for my swim and I get a knock on my door.

I open the door to find a young, tall man with the face of a cherub and its blue eyes, no hat, no sunglasses— in fact, looking completely different from anyone I had ever met this lifetime.

Astonished for a second, I pause, then upon recovery, I inquire to confirm: “Are you the same person I met yesterday?”

He nods with a surprised, uncertain look in his face. “You invited me to come for a swim, remember?”

“Yeah…I just didn’t know…you were so young. How old are you?”

“25.”

Sigh of relief. Not too bad. Better than 44, I guess!

“Did you bring your swim gear and a towel?”

“Yeah.”

“Cool. Let’s go!”

I glanced briefly at him right before I dove in the pool and noticed his shoulder was covered in tattoos. I guess I should have expected as much, him being a sailor and all. But I had never been friends with anyone with tattoos before, let alone in a relationship, so I was intrigued — and curious to know where this little outing might lead.

The rest is history, as you might say. :)
