My expression changed to incredulity when I heard that Donald Trump was inevitable. And while this state fueled this burst of assembly, the exercise soon turned into an experiment. Just how much could one do on an iPad Pro if that’s all one had to work on for the day. Hear that Cupertino? That MacBook Pro can’t ship fast enough. Two weeks is a long time to wait just because I wanted a larger hard drive and a faster processor.

It’s amazing what you can do in the absence of a functioning laptop.

This is my experiment with creating something from scratch using only found images and an amalgam of “casual consumer” iPhone and iPad apps. Images were sourced using the screen grab feature native in most mobile devices.

Adobe Photoshop Mix was used for the compositing of photos. ToonCamera was used to give the final images a painterly effect and the Over app was used to create the title card. (The team at Over have a great monetization model for their in-app purchases BTW.) Then everything was imported and assembled as static comic book layouts in the Halftone 2 app. From within the Halftone 2 app a video that showcased each individual comic book panel was exported. (Primarily to avoid using copyrighted music on my devices.) The footage was then reimported into Vimeo’s Cameo app and trimmed and scored with in-app sourced music. Google Photos, Dropbox and iCloud storage played their respective parts.

The final track selected was Kevin Matley’s Alaska off his Volume I.

This has been an expression of political frustration. All images used, treated, modified and retouched remain the property of their respective owners and no malice was intended in the use of said images for this remixed purpose.

If you’d rather read the comics you can do that too.
