Chilenos on Súper Bowl Sunday

So yesterday my friend, neighbor, and fellow chilean Oliver texts me para ver el partido. Neither one of us knew what time el partido began so I went to Chile’s official team site. Nada. But fine, we agreed to meet at 8pm at his new house.
It became clear upon arriving with Mari Lechuga that his new place is less a house and more a palace, and that by el partido (means “the game” in Spanish; and also “the political party”) he meant the Super Bowl.
We barely watched the game, but paid some attention to the adverts. At another point during the advertisements, Mari jumped up excited:
Mari: “Yeaaaaa, Missy!”
Oliver/Pab: Where??? I don’t see Messi!!!
At another point Oliver excited to see his friend and colleague Louis Paloue’s work used as the lede photo in a Jeep ad.
That’s a bfd, of course, but then again Oliver is a bfd kind-of-guy. Not only is he from Chile, he’s the new Photo Editor at Washington Post. Check out some of his amazing work around the Beltway on Instagram and below.

On Monday at work, I don’t think any of us actually knew who won the Super Bowl. Mari and I left in the 4th Quarter to prepare for another week ahead. But not before we took one final photo with beat up, ol’ my iPhone 5 (h/t Mari).

Update: My iPhone 6s Plus supermachine arrived today in gold :)
