Igor Chickin AMP. Moscow: “This is one of the main steps on the way to building Asgardia as a nation”

The Mayoral elections are well underway in Asgardia. Igor Chikin, member of the Asgardian Parliament, entrepreneur, and blogger from Moscow shared his opinion on the topic with Asgardia.space.
- The Mayoral elections in Asgardia are underway, how do you rate this landmark event?
- I reckon this is one of the main steps on the way to building Asgardia as a nation. Besides, it’s a new opportunity for the Residents to engage more actively in the life of the state.
- How would you rate the importance of elections for Asgardia?
- I believe an essential part of the whole process is that it’s not about struggling to get the position, it’s more about all the Residents who, thanks to the elections, can learn about a whole range of different ideas and concepts that candidates provide in their campaign platforms. Even today we have already seen that many of those concepts are extremely interesting and beneficial both for individual communities and for Asgardia as a nation.
Candidates contribute to the well-being of Asgardia, irrespective of whether they become Mayors or not!
- In your opinion, what duties should a Mayor have?
- Mayors should represent a connection between the central government (Head of State, Parliament, and the Government itself) and ordinary residents. During the first stages, they will also become the foundation of the economic system.
Mayors will function on the territories of their cities/districts. They’ll be organizing workflow in their communities as well as coordinating it with central governing bodies. Support of the local initiatives will be their responsibility too
- What would you like to wish to the elections participants and future mayors?
- I would wish them that during the elections they realize and clearly articulate their vision of the present and future tasks they’ll have as public servants who’ll develop Asgardia upgrading its local communities as well as distinctive steps they’ll have to make to fulfil those tasks. Asgardia needs smart and driven community leaders, who’ll manage to unite their fellow Asgardians and to shape history planting first seeds of the new space nation here on Earth.
