Looting the Scout Room at the Rio Grande Street Christian Baptist Church was an anticlimax for the kids.
Nobody had noticed them sneak in and remove three pup tents, a camp stove, three sleeping bags, three Boy Scout Handbooks, a case of ready-to-eat rations, and three backpacks.
Burglary was actually pretty simple in the SLAR because almost nobody locked anything. There was little money, no black market for stolen goods, and there were few items of true value anyway, so few Valley residents had ever seen a key or a lock.
