Lani is a menstrual cup developed by Mexican women’s, made in the United States. What drives these amazing entrepreneurs is the protection of the environment, by reducing their plastic consumption and having the capacity to offer to the Mexican women and the world the best way to live their menstrual period.
The menstrual cup is reusable for up to 10 years, which makes it ecologic and affordable in the long term, avoiding wasting around 11,000 tampons or towels, this saves all the Lani customers a recurring amount up to $1000 DLLs.
It all started when Sofi, one of the founders begun a zero-waste life. When she started this lifestyle, she found a big obstacle that was living her menstrual period without any waste. She searched for an alternative everywhere, until she found the menstrual cup, which was eco-friendly and much better for the human body, also super comfortable. Sadly in Mexico, there was no menstrual cup that was trustful and accessible, it was in this moment where Sofi invited Paola and Lani to start their journey.
Their team is conformed by Sofia who is a co-founder and commercial director, she is business and technologies of information engineer. She is in charge of the design and development of Lani`s e-commerce, she is also in charge of the incredible content produced in their social media, Paola who is co-founder and administrative director she is a business administrator and she is really good with the numbers, she is in charge of all the operative processes of their day to day, Sophie who receives the orders verifies them and ship them to the customer and Ingrid who is in charge of the customer service “a topic we take very seriously here at Lani”.
A key for their success is their branding and marketing, as the majority of the cups in the market at the moment when they started had a pharmaceutic aspect, they decided to eliminate that and opting to a “more millennial” branding. Alongside Lani is known for its content and customer service.
In the first 18 months that Lani has been in operations, they’ve reached 8500 persons who have changed to the menstrual cup, they have received visitors on their website from 67 different countries and more than 100 distributors around Mexico.
In the next years Lani plans to expand to international markets, starting from the United States this year (2020), their next step would be south America and Spain. In 2025, they see their menstrual cup as the preferred one in native Spanish speaker countries, also to start gaining popularity in other countries, and position their products in pharmacies, retail stores, and supermarkets as amazon.
