Why You Should Embrace The Morning
Most people I talk to hate the morning. They dread getting out of their comfortable bedding to be greeted by the brisk morning air. They dread getting ready for the day and going to work or school. But that’s just it, they dread the day before they’ve even left the comfort of their bed. You should be embracing the morning. The morning is what sets the tone for the rest of your day, and that is something that should not be taken with lightly.
You should get up everyday with a sense of purpose. You should get up and feel ready to conquer the day. Your life will go infinitely smoother if you are able to embrace mornings.
When I first went off to college I wasn’t a morning person, and I had no intention of being one. But halfway through the semester I felt lazy and that I wasn’t getting much accomplished, so I pushed myself to get up earlier. Before long I was regularly getting up at 6am. At first it was hard, but it got easier, and it made be feel good.
It made me feel good that I wasn’t wasting time in bed, I was doing homework, reading the paper, watching the news, or just pondering my thoughts. But I wasn’t laying around doing nothing.
When you are able to get out of bed, and fully embrace the day then you will make that day a success. Trust me. You shouldn’t dread another day, another opportunity to do great things. You should be motivating yourself. In the morning you need to wake up, take a deep breath, and get out of bed. Getting out of bed is the hardest part, but once that is done you will see the rest is easy.
Get up and stretch, do yoga, go for a run. Get your blood flowing. Go watch the sunrise, take a nice hot shower, make a pot of coffee, or a cup of tea. Cook yourself a breakfast, read the paper, read a book. Get up every morning and embrace it. A good morning will transition to a good day, you’ll feel better about life and yourself. It generally takes your body 2-3 weeks to make something a habit, so start slow, get up at 8, then 7:50, then 7:30. Set reachable goals to achieve. Trust me getting up earlier may sound like a pain but you will be ahead of everyone else who is still hitting the snooze button.
I know not everyone is a morning person, and some people do work naturally better in the evening, but try to be a morning person. There is nothing like feeling the warmth of the sun as it rises to jump start you day. Embrace the morning.
