We’re #7! Thumbtack Makes Great Place to Work’s® List of Best Workplaces for Parents™ for the Second Time

Today, we’re happy to announce that Thumbtack has been named #7 on Great Place to Work’s® annual list of Best Workplaces for Parents ™ in the U.S. The highly competitive award is the result of a 60-question survey taken by over 6 million parents and non-parents across multiple companies and industries, and it’s Thumbtack’s second time being honored with this recognition.

In the survey, 97% of Thumbtack employees said people at the company genuinely care about each other, and 94% say they’re able to take time off work when they think it’s necessary. In an earlier blog, Yael Levy — Sr. Lead Brand Writer, notes that Thumbtack makes it possible for parents to show up for their kids and occasionally step away for pickups, homework help, and special school time performances. “Thumbtack has offered me so much flexibility, generosity, and empathy,” she says.

Tyler Bailey — Sr. Director of Trust & Safety Operations, adds that Thumbtack’s Parents ERG has helped normalize things that are often overlooked at other companies, including calendar blocks for family events and offline Slack status during family dinner time. Since kids usually say it best, we asked some of our working parents’ little ones to weigh in on why Thumbtack’s family-friendly culture means so much to them.

According to a report by Great Place to Work® and Maven Clinic, 4.8 million working parents are experiencing burnout, and employers who don’t address the needs of working moms and dads risk losing talent in the wake of the Great Resignation. The report also finds that an inclusive company culture and holistic approach to employee well-being can prevent 4 out of 5 working parents from quitting. We made it onto today’s prestigious list because we’ve worked hard to adapt to the challenges of an ever-changing workplace, and our parents feel they’re able to reach their full potential at work while also getting the support and flexibility they need.

We want to give a special shout-out to our Parents Employee Resource Group (ERG), which has been instrumental in providing an internal network for parents and caregivers to support each other, provide advice, influence company policy, and of course share kid pics or funny stories. We also want to thank our incredible leaders and everything they’ve done to help make Thumbtack such a special place for parents and families. We know that a parent-friendly workplace is better for our employees and our business…and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

This award marks Thumbtack’s fourteenth honor from Great Place to Work, where we’ve also been named one of the Best Medium Workplaces™, Best Workplaces in the Bay Area™, Best Workplaces in Technology™. Thumbtack was also recently featured in The Penny Hoarder’s list of the top 15 companies with paid parental leave benefits.
