Ken Yuhas has been working at Thumbtack since early 2017. Today he leads a product team that is reimagining the entire Thumbtack customer experience with the rollout of Instant Match in September of 2017. Here’s why Ken decided to join the Thumbtack team, in his own words.
I had been doing product management work for almost eight years when I started talking to Thumbtack. I worked for Microsoft Office in Seattle for half of those years, before moving to San Francisco and working on startups.
What I was looking for in my next job.
I was fortunate to have a few opportunities to choose from when I decided to join Thumbtack, and the choice wasn’t easy. I knew I wanted to work for a company that had strong leadership, a clear mission and sound strategy, team autonomy, and smart and humble coworkers.
But I was also looking for a product that was a great product market fit and still has lots of opportunities to build and grow. Thumbtack checked all of those boxes.
Having the “aha!” Thumbtack career moment.
The more I reflected on today’s local services industry, the more excited I got about Thumbtack as a product. It’s still really difficult to hire a local pro — and that’s a huge and exciting opportunity for someone in my role.
Working at Thumbtack today.
The people at Thumbtack are incredible! I truly felt like everyone was excited to have me on board and ready to get me ramped up as fast as possible. My first six months at Thumbtack were dedicated to customer acquisition and activation — basically, getting new customers to engage meaningfully with Thumbtack.
These days I’m working on a new project that reimagines the customer experience from the ground up. Sound interesting? Reach out, I would love to talk to you about it.
