A conversation on procrastination, sex, and love making
Hey,
Thank you so much for your patience with me.
I have been silent for a handful of weeks.
I’m thankful to report I am now returning to my usual pace.
1.
I have been preparing to release a refurbished writing course. The first lessons I wrote six years ago. To date, it has helped ferry 4,389 writers ashore away from the sea of mediocrity and wish-washy writing.
God willing to be open for enrollment in late March or early April.
2.
Next Tuesday, I will release three magazine issues to make up for January, February, and March.
I have been trying to have audio versions accompanying these releases. Finger crossed, I believe it will come together nicely.
3.
The other day I was just looking back at the archive of this letter I send to you. I have been sending it almost every Tuesday since 2016. I found a handful of favorite letters in there.
I might release a limited edition collection of the best of the best as an ebook.
Until next Tuesday.
— Joel
P.S.
I run a community called Buibui. It’s a community that gives the courage to speak up to the horror-stricken. Extending options to survivors. Benefiting the outcast. Shelter to the hushed, ignored and oppressed. Not a perfect community but a home. If you’re looking to support a community like this. Consider paying $7.99 per month and joining the community. You get extra features. But the stories stays free for everyone else. Click here to learn more.
End procrastination
There is procrastination as in everyday trouble to get started. There is procrastination as in trouble finishing things. And there is procrastination as a weeklong, monthlong, yearlong, self-harming self-torture. The first two are annoying but common. The last one can threaten your very existence.
The love story story
Neither psychology nor anthropology fully understand love: only history sees that it’s all about the time and the telling
Slow sex, long life
For more than 1,000 years, the Imperial Family of Japan and its physicians have preserved a treasure of oriental medicine: the complete 30 scrolls of the Ishinhō, or the ‘heart of medical prescription’. This compendium was derived from sources in India, China, Korea and elsewhere, though many of the original documents have since been lost or destroyed. In 2012, I found myself in the Imperial Archives in the Tokyo Palace examining the precious scrolls.
Quote
“A not-too-distant explosion shakes the house, the windows rattle in their sockets… Each time this happens I find myself thinking, ‘Is it possible that human beings can continue with this lunacy very much longer?’ You know the answer, of course.”
— George Orwell
