My First Multi-Day Fast: What I Learned

Last Summer, the stars aligned for me to attempt my first multi-day fast.

Fasting often has a religious connotation, but I was more driven by data.

I was feeling stuck in my diet and exercise goals, and looking for something like a reset to “get back on the horse” as they say. 🐴 I had a wonderful summer with friends and family, but these social calls came at the cost of my waistline.

I’ve completed single day fasts in the past, mostly after days of heavy eating/drinking, and really enjoyed not only the physical benefits — dropping lbs, lower bloat, etc. — but also the unexpected mental benefits like better clarity and higher energy levels.

While considering what my reset would be, I stumbled across this video, outlining the experience of fasting for multiple days. As a data nerd myself, what I really loved was tracking of data from a variety of sources.

I was sold on trying it.

Just 2 days after watching the video, I grabbed some packets of electrolytes health monitors started my first multi-day fast.
