Storybook Romances

…Storybook romances.
They come suddenly in your life and take your world by whirlwind.
They are the stuff from fairy tales, the stuff you remember each time you hear a love or break up song or each time you watch a movie.
They make you embark upon adventures you thought you would never do.
They teach you how to take risks and enjoy its results.
They make each and every moment in that relationship fresh and breath-taking. Each day brings something new and exciting.
However they typically last for a very short period of time.
Are fairy tale romances unreal and hence they last for a shorter period of time or are they fairy tale romances because they ended before they reached the peak where a person becomes more consumed by reality of life and stops being overwhelmed by the partner and the relationship?
For whatever reason this romance might have ended, in retrospect you always remember it in a good light, forgetting the part why it ended.
This makes you think, what if it would have lasted? Would it intensity be the same as it was while it lasted?
Sometimes, when you sit alone, you regret not trying to find out if it truly was real or not.
What if you would have pursued the story book romance instead of settling for a more practical and comfortable relationship?
If you have had a story books romance, please share your experience. Did the stuff from fairy tales last or did it fade out after a while?
