At four years old, I learned the concept of fear and what it can cause. Frightening events, one after the other, came barreling through, forever creating a punctured, irreparable dent in my childhood. Fear can eventually cocoon into trauma and emotional instability. These negative emotions are what attract toxic energy. So, why wouldn’t they attract something much more malevolent?

Spirits — or ghosts — are attracted to energy fused by history, pain, fear. And, I believe this is why some homes, including my childhood home — the house on Summer Lane — became infested with paranormal activity that followed us for 10 years.

The Unstable Environment of Summer Lane

At four years old, my father left. In the midst of their painful divorce, our incredibly depressed, mother took my three-year-old brother and me and moved us into a two-story, three-bedroom home on Summer Lane. An ironically campy name for what would be a terrifying household.
