What happens when we talk to animals?
Hey,
I recently enjoyed watching a handful of movies:
1.
Space sweepers
Fun, comedic, and a well-paced story. I could easily watch this as a Tv show. This movie streams on Netflix right now.
2.
Boss Level
Frank Grillo plays Roy Pulver, a retired soldier, stuck in a time loop. It is a sci-fi movie laced with lots of dark comedy.
3.
The Mitchell’s vs the Machines
A quirky, dysfunctional family’s road trip takes a turn for the worst amidst the robots apocalypse. I enjoyed mostly the quirky family premise of this movie. Lovely watch.
On other news.
My marriag engagement was a success. She said yes.
I will release a trauma audio show to paying members later today. A chance to purchase for everyone else will come next week. I will release a new magazine issue in the same week with its accompanying audio. To be purchased together at a limited time after they will sell separately.
Enjoy today’s picked stories.
Until next Tuesday.
— Joel
P.S.
I run a community called Buibui. It’s a community that gives the courage to speak up to the horror-stricken. Extending options to survivors. Benefiting the outcast. Shelter to the hushed, ignored, and oppressed. Not a perfect community but a home. If you’re looking to support a community like this. Consider paying $7.99 per month and join the community. You get extra features. But the community stays free for everyone else. Click here to learn more.
What happens when we talk to animals?
When the crow whisperer appeared at the side gate to Adam Florin and Dani Fisher’s house, in Oakland, California, she was dressed head to toe in black, wearing a hoodie, gloves, and a mask. This was a few weeks into the coronavirus lockdown, so Adam initially took her garb to be a sign of precautionary vigilance. In fact, it was a disguise. “It’s so the crows don’t recognize me and — no offense — start associating me with you.
There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing
The neglected middle child of mental health can dull your motivation and focus — and it may be the dominant emotion of 2021.
The lie of “expired” food and the disastrous truth of America’s food waste problem
Maybe you know the routine. Every so often, I go through my refrigerator, check labels on the items, and throw out anything that’s a month, or a week, or maybe a few days past the date on the label. I might stop to sniff, but for my whole adult life, I’ve figured that the problem was obvious — my jam or almond milk or package of shredded Italian cheese blend had “expired” — and the fix was simple: Into the garbage it goes.
