Christmas is the time of year when we reflect on our relationships.

It is the season of goodwill.

How are we doing in our relationships?

Have we forgiven those who hurt us or do we need to ask for forgiveness?

This piece is in response to a prompt by Warren Brown, a prolific writer, and coach here on Medium.

This is the prompt:

Try to put your serious, funny, and not-so-funny experiences of “Forgiveness is easy or is it?” in a literary piece of any length. Tag me, Warren Brown. Publish it anywhere on Medium. The best entry will get a spotlight in “Life Torch” publication. Send in your entries by the 22nd of December 2021.

Forgiveness

I can see no good reason
not to forgive.

Forgiveness sets us free.

Free from anger,
rage, bitterness,

and malice.

Unforgiveness,
on the other hand,
keeps us in bondage.

I can see no good reason
not to forgive.

Forgiveness sets us free.

Free to love,
to laugh, to dream,

to live.

Forgiveness softens
our heart
making it tender again.

A forgiving heart
is a loving heart.

It’s not easy to forgive.
